Our Design Principle
GC Custom Woodworking provides quality projects to customers who appreciate the beauty of natural wood furniture, who value owning it, and who respect the skill required to create it. We work with our clients to develop a design that is specific and unique to their needs. As an added benefit to our clients, we use the services of a skilled Interior Designer who ran a successful Design company on Chicago’s North Shore for more than 25 years. Once a design is selected, we carefully hand-select and mill each piece of wood that goes into the project. Finishing for the pieces can range from hand-rubbed oil, to traditional shellac or lacquer, to brightly colored natural milk paints custom mixed for you. We accept only a small number of projects each year and take our time building them in order to provide the most personal service possible. The result of all this is the creation of a one-of-a-kind product just for you.

We’ve recently been commissioned to design and build a small cabinet that will be placed in the corner of a room. Due to other furnishings in the room, the cabinet needs to be designed with one side longer than the other, making for some odd angles and difficult joinery. Most important, though, is that[…]
